Change your domain name

By default, Particeep provides you with a URL of the form <name of my platform>.particeep.com.

This allows you to get your platform up and running quickly because you don't have to worry about technical topics like DNS management or security certificates.

For your launch, you will probably want to have your own URL like <name of my platform> .com.

Here are the main steps:

  • buy a domain name
  • configure your DNS
  • Secure the domain
  • Final configuration steps

Buy a domain name

There are many services that sell domain names such as OVH.

The procedure is quite simple: find your domain name and buy it online. Count less than 10 € / year for a .fr or a .com

It is important that you do this step yourself because the domain name must be yours. It would be dangerous for your brand if a service provider bought your domain name: it is an asset of your company.

Configure your DNS

Validate SSL certificate

To validate the certificate, you will need to add a field in your DNS (for example at OVH) which will contain a very long password.

  • If you are not the technical contact, contact our customer support to assist you
  • If you are the technical contact person, you need to add a TXT type record on the root domain or on the DZC subdomain which contains the password.

Point your domain to your platform

DNS is the protocol used to link a domain name to an IP address. You must therefore point your domain to our servers.

Case of using a domain without "www"

If you use a domain without the "www" (ex: https://votre-site.com)

In this case, you need to add 4 type A records to the following IP addresses:

185.42.117.108, 185.42.117.109, 46.252.181.103 and 46.252.181.104.

[Recommended] case of using a domain with "www"

If you use the "www" in your main address (ex: www.particeep.com)

In this case you will need to add a CNAME type record to domain.par.clever-cloud.com.

Note: Clevercloud is our host, so the "CNAME" points to them.

Once these operations are complete, you will get an error message from Clevercloud or from your browser telling you that the page is not accessible (because it is not secure).

Secure the domain

All Particeep platforms are secured via the "Let's encrypt" protocol, this is the protocol that replaces http by https in URLs.

Particeep takes care of this step when the switch to your final domain name is completed.

Final configuration steps

Once the security has been done by us, the domain will be registered on Clevercloud via our teams and you will have access to your platform via your domain.
